DESCRIPTION
Weber Basin Water Conservancy District is looking for motivated and driven individuals who are looking to expand their experience and knowledge in the landscape irrigation industry. This position will increase one’s ability to communicate and work effectively with members of the public as well as give hands on experience performing water audits in the community. We are seeking qualified applicants to fill a Temporary & Seasonal Conservation Programs Garden Worker position. The season typically begins in April/May and ends in September/October. The work hours are Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Full or part-time hours may be available. Occasional Saturday work may be required. This position includes up to four paid holidays during the season.Typical duties include:• Assist in the care of Weber Basin Water’s Conservation Learning Garden This includes but is not limited to planting, deadheading, weeding, transplanting, pruning, and disease & pest prevention.• Conduct garden tours for various groups of people of all ages that visit the garden.• Assist in ongoing modifications and improvements of various display areas of the Learning Garden.• Assist in teaching horticulture classes to the public as need arises and based on skill and experience. • Assist with other water conservation programs including community events, garden fairs & festivals, and other public education events both onsite and in the community as needed.Returning seasonal employees receive a $.50/hour additional starting wage.Come work alongside others who are passionate about conservation and preserving our water supply.
